Mission of the Month:  Shared Harvest Foodbank

Shared Harvest Foodbank, our October mission, collects, warehouses, transports and distributes food to over 90 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other non-profit agencies in a five-county area in Southwest Ohio. (The Kings Food Pantry in South Lebanon, to which Lakeview donates non-perishable items, is one of the food pantries served by Shared Harvest.)  In addition to Warren County, Shared Harvest distributes food in Butler, Darke, Miami and Preble counties. Shared Harvest is a sister organization to the Freestore Food Bank serving Hamilton County.  Shared Harvest warehouse and offices are located in Fairfield.

There are three primary programs operated by Shared Harvest, the primary one being foodbanking and distribution. Retail grocers, federal programs, the Ohio General Assembly, and co-op buying programs all contribute/allocate funds and groceries in this massive effort.

A second major endeavor of Shared Harvest is direct service programs. The Covid 19 pandemic has placed added burdens on all programs that directly serve those with food insecurity in our area.  Please watch the Lakeview Facebook page for an upcoming interview with Terry Perdue, the Executive Director of Shared Harvest, to learn more about how the agency is helping people in 2020.

The third major focus of Shared Harvest is advocacy.  In this capacity Shared Harvest educates the public about ways in which individuals and organizations can reach out to elected officials to advocate for legislation that impacts food insecurity in our state and nation.

Covid 19 has placed a tremendous burden on the capacity of Shared Harvest to serve the increased food needs of its clients. Please consider a gift in the month of October.  Check their website at for detailed information.

In the midst of the COVID 19 Pandemic, our goal here at Lakeview is to be caring and wise, as we serve and support all of God's children.  With that in mind, we have found it necessary to make some changes to our original plans. Please see below:

  • NO face to face services until further notice—We will continue to stream our Sunday morning services online. This will include having a bulletin and the announcements available on the Lakeview website. These services will also be recorded, archived and available on Facebook to watch at a later time.
  •  We will reassess the situation as circumstances change and will keep everyone up to date through email, bulletin announcements and announcements on the website and Facebook page.
  • We continue to work on the protocol for the time when we return to the Sanctuary and will make those guidelines available.

  • While we will continue to suspend all church organized activities, we encourage you to be in touch with members of the community via text, email, a phone call, a letter, a card, fireworks, sky-writing, or however you are inspired to reach out and connect with one another.

  • The office staff will be working from home as much as possible, but will be monitoring voice mail, email, mail, etc.

As circumstances change, we will continue to assess the situation and make changes as needed.
If you have any questions or concerns please call us at the church office.
