Dayton Disaster Relief Help

The Heartland Conference of the UCC has been partnering with the Disciples of Christ to help those displaced by the Dayton tornadoes in 2019.  Current needs are for volunteer assistance in finishing interiors of new and refurbished homes.

A small group from LUCC travelled to Dayton from Lakeview at the end of June to assist with rebuilding efforts.

Childhood Food Solutions

On July 13, Linda Overholt joined with close to 40 volunteers for an assembly line packing of 1000 food sacks.  The sacks were then distributed to drivers from several local churches and the rest delivered door to door in the Villages At Roll Hill neighborhood.  $1505 was donated from Lakeview’s April mission for Childhood Food Solutions  which allowed for the purchase of packaged/shelf-stable chicken, to add needed  protein to the food sacks for this distribution.  The Roll Hill neighborhood, zip, code 45225, is the 10th poorest zip code in Ohio, with median household income at $14,000 per year. School breakfasts and lunches are not available to children in summer months.
