Shared Harvest Foodbank, our October mission, collects, warehouses, transports and distributes food to over 90 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other non-profit agencies in a five-county area in Southwest Ohio. (The Kings Food Pantry in South Lebanon, to which Lakeview donates non-perishable items, is one of the food pantries served by Shared Harvest.)  In addition to Warren County, Shared Harvest distributes food in Butler, Darke, Miami and Preble counties. (Shared Harvest is a sister organization to the Freestore Food Bank serving Hamilton County.)  Shared Harvest warehouse and offices are located in Fairfield.

There are three primary programs operated by Shared Harvest, the primary one being foodbanking and distribution. Retail grocers, federal programs, the Ohio General Assembly, and co-op buying programs all contribute/allocate funds and groceries in this massive effort.

A second major endeavor of Shared Harvest is direct service programs. In a recent conversation with Terry Perdue, Executive Director, he said that our monetary donations would be targeted to help Shared Harvest pay for the increased costs of their “Childhood Hunger Back-Pack Program.”  This program is currently providing food for teachers to distribute weekly to 3300 food-insecure students in the five county area served.  He also highlighted a Friday afternoon drive-thru food distribution program at the facility in Fairfield which is in real need of volunteers to pack boxes during the week and load food boxes into cars on Fridays.  (This program has seen a doubling of clients in recent weeks.)  The Covid 19 pandemic has placed added burdens on all programs that directly serve those with food insecurity in our area.  Please watch the Lakeview Facebook page for an upcoming interview with Terry Perdue, the Executive Director of Shared Harvest, to learn more about how the agency is helping people in 2021. 

The third major focus of Shared Harvest is advocacy.  In this capacity Shared Harvest educates the public about ways in which individuals and organizations can reach out to elected officials to advocate for legislation that impacts food insecurity in our state and nation. 

Covid  has placed a tremendous burden on the capacity of Shared Harvest to serve the increased food needs of its clients. Please consider a gift in the month of October.  Check their website at for detailed information and to sign up to volunteer.


We are also SO excited to announce that we have returned to in-person worship in our sanctuary, Sundays at 10:15 am!  We will be observing some safety protocols to help people be safe and healthy, so we will be wearing face masks and observing physical distancing guidelines.

We are also happy to continue to stream our worship service online via Facebook each Sunday, beginning at 10:00 AM.   To be part of the service, just go to the Lakeview website ( and click on the link to our Facebook page, or click on Now, pick the Facebook Event for the current service and join with us in worship.

At 10:45 AM we will be bringing our on-line and in person services together by streaming LIVE on Facebook from the sanctuary to check in, pray together, and to be sent forth.
